Even a great court wears down. Sun, rain, and play fade the color, smooth the texture, and open small cracks. Resurfacing renews all of it.
What resurfacing costs
A typical resurface — crack repair, a new resurfacer coat, two color coats, and fresh lines on a 30 × 60 ft court — runs $1,500–$3,500. Re-lining only (adding or refreshing lines) sits at the lower end.
Signs it's time
- Faded or chalky color, or coating worn down to the base
- Slick spots where the gritty texture has smoothed out
- Hairline cracks or low spots that hold water ("birdbaths")
- Lines that are hard to read
How often?
Most courts benefit from resurfacing every 4–8 years, depending on climate and use. Staying on schedule prevents small issues from becoming a full (and far costlier) rebuild.
If the base is failing — major cracking, heaving, or drainage problems — resurfacing alone won't last. A builder can tell you whether a resurface will hold or whether the slab needs attention first.
